If a widget shows a black screen in OBS, turn off your VPN or ad blocker, then refresh the browser source. If it looks blurry, set your OBS canvas and the browser source to the same size, 1920x1080.

The checklists below take you through both, in order, with what you should see after each step.

Every widget we sell loads into OBS as a browser source. A browser source is the OBS layer that loads a web page, and your widget is that page. So most of these fixes are about that one layer.

Black screen: check these in order

  1. Turn off your VPN or ad blocker. Then go straight to step 2.
  2. Refresh the browser source in OBS.
    What you should see: the widget on a transparent background.
  3. Check the link. Save the widget in StreamElements first. Then copy the overlay link from the top right of the overlay editor, and paste the whole link into the browser source URL field.
    What you should see: the widget, the same as in the StreamElements editor.

Blurry widget: check these in order

  1. Set your OBS canvas to 1920x1080. In OBS, open Settings, then Video, and set Base (Canvas) Resolution to 1920x1080.
    What you should see: the scene preview at the new size.
  2. Give the browser source the same size. In the source's Properties, set Width to 1920 and Height to 1080.
    What you should see: sharp text and edges on the widget.

Still stuck?

  • Messages missing from YouTube, Kick or TikTok. That is a connection, not a display problem. Connect each platform as your widget's guide shows. Our Kick setup guide covers Kick.
  • A goal that does not move. Check the goal type, the target, and which events you switched on in the widget's settings.
  • Still broken. Email us at streamwidgetshop@gmail.com with your order number. If a widget is broken, we fix it first, and if we cannot fix it, we refund you.
