To connect Kick chat to a chat widget, you enter one value in the widget's Kick field, and which value depends on the widget. This guide shows what four SWS chat widgets ask for, then walks you through adding your widget to OBS Studio as a Browser Source.
What you need
- A Kick channel, and your channel name
- Your Kick chatroom ID, if your widget asks for one (more on that below)
- OBS Studio or Streamlabs Desktop, both free
- A free StreamElements or Streamlabs account, which the widgets below run on
- A chat widget that reads Kick chat, and the setup guide that comes with it
A Browser Source is the OBS layer that loads a web page. Your chat widget is a web page, so a Browser Source is how it gets onto your stream.
Three pieces work together. The widget lives in your StreamElements account, where you tell it your Kick value. OBS only displays the page. Kick chat flows through the widget, so if Kick chat is missing, check the Kick value first.
What to enter for Kick, widget by widget
Each widget's own listing says how Kick connects, and the listings do not all use the same words. Here is what each one says, quoted as read on 2026-09-29.
| Widget | What its listing says about Kick |
| Multistream Chat Widget | “Kick connects by channel name” |
| Y2K Sticker Chat Widget | “Kick chat, connects by channel name” |
| Neon Multistream Chat Widget | “Kick chat, connects by channel username” |
| Spooky Stream Kit | “Kick: your channel name and chatroom ID, for the multistream widget” |

Type the value exactly the way it appears on Kick. The setup guide included with your widget covers the Kick step from start to finish, so it has the final word.
When a widget asks for a chatroom ID
A chatroom ID is the number Kick uses to identify your channel's chat. It is not your username. The Spooky Stream Kit listing asks for it. Two of our own guides, what a multistream widget actually does and best multistream chat widgets, go further. They say entering only a username is the most common Kick setup failure.
Those guides describe the lookup this way:
- Open a normal browser tab and log in to Kick.
- Go to kick.com/api/v2/channels/ followed by your channel name.
- Find the chatroom object in the response.
- Copy its id number.
That number goes in the widget's Kick field instead of your username. Kick controls that address and can change it, so your widget's guide comes first. If your guide and a listing differ, follow the guide.
Get the widget into StreamElements first
The Kick field lives in the widget, so the widget has to be in your StreamElements account before OBS can show it. Each listing describes its own route:
- Multistream Chat Widget: open your personal one-click install link and log in with StreamElements. The link creates a new overlay and leaves your existing scenes alone.
- Y2K Sticker Chat Widget: create a custom widget in StreamElements and paste in the code files.
- Neon Multistream Chat Widget: create a custom widget in StreamElements and paste in the code.
- Spooky Stream Kit: create a custom widget in StreamElements and paste the matching included files. Each widget in the kit takes about five minutes.
Add the widget in OBS
- Open your widget's overlay in StreamElements, as your guide shows, and type your Kick value into the Kick field. Save it.
- Copy the overlay link, as your guide shows.
- Open OBS Studio and find the Sources box.
- Click the + button under Sources.
- Click Browser in the list.
- Type a name, such as Kick chat, and click OK.
- Paste your overlay link into the URL box.
- Set Width and Height to the size your guide gives. On a 1080p stream, a full-canvas overlay is 1920 by 1080.
- Click OK, then drag the widget to where you want chat to sit.
Streamlabs Desktop follows the same idea: add a browser source and paste the link. The labels differ slightly.

What you should see
What you should see: send a message in your Kick chat. It appears in the widget with a Kick badge beside the username, like this sample from the Multistream Chat Widget.

Test it before you go live. Send one message from a second account, or ask a friend to send one, and watch it arrive. Our multistream guide gives the same advice: confirm Kick connects before you rely on it during a live show.
If Kick chat does not show
- Check the value. Match what you typed to the table above and to your guide. If the guide asks for a chatroom ID, a username alone will not connect.
- Refresh the Browser Source. Right-click it in OBS, click Properties, then click Refresh cache of current page.
- Check the widget reads Kick. Some chat widgets read Twitch only. The Neon Glow Chat and Goal Widget reads Twitch chat through StreamElements only, and does not pull YouTube or Kick chat.
Widgets that read Kick
Read the Works With line on a listing before you buy. These four list Kick chat.
- Multistream Chat Widget: reads Twitch, YouTube, Kick and TikTok in one box, with a one-click install link that takes about 2 to 5 minutes. One limit: GIFs are a Twitch chat feature, and TikTok chat comes through the free TikFinity app, which connects to TikTok unofficially.
- Y2K Sticker Chat Widget: retro sticker bubbles for Twitch, YouTube, Kick and TikTok, about 10 to 15 minutes to set up. One limit: YouTube chat needs a free Google API key.
- Neon Multistream Chat Widget: a glow theme for Twitch, YouTube and Kick, about 10 to 15 minutes to set up. One limit: it does not read TikTok chat.
- Spooky Stream Kit: a Halloween set of 8 widgets, with 3 chat widgets and 5 goal bars. One limit: only the kit's own Spooky Multistream Chat Widget reads Kick, and the kit is available until 31 October 2026. Whatever you buy stays yours after that date.
FAQ
Do I need to know how to code?
No. The Multistream Chat Widget's one-click install link sets everything up inside your StreamElements account, and the code files are there as a backup.
Will the widget change my existing OBS scenes?
No. The one-click install creates a new overlay in StreamElements, and your scenes stay as they are.
Can one widget show Twitch, YouTube and Kick chat together?
Yes, the multistream widgets do. They bring the chats into one overlay through a free StreamElements account, after a one-time YouTube and Kick connection that the included guide covers.
